A Great Resource for Brain Fitness News

Monday, March 24th, 2008

One of the sites I frequent for news about brain fitness in general is Sharp Brains. They focus on having content which is based purely on science rather than speculation. I don’t know about you, but I would rather base my brain’s fitness on science.

Although, on the subject of speculation, they do predict fitness centers incorporating “brain gyms” in the future. I personally like the idea, especially since the very name of this blog takes its namesake from part of the word “gymnasium”.

Welcome to Mindnasium!

We are dedicated to bringing you news about a class of entertainment known as Brain Games. Arguably kicked off by the efforts of Nintendo and Dr. Ryuta Kawashima with the Brain Age series, the genre can include anything which helps improve cognition. Obviously this includes classics as well, such as Mahjongg, Mastermind and good ‘ole brain teasers.

In addition we intend to conduct reviews of games available for as many consoles and platforms as we can. Our first review will be for the Xbox Live Arcade title “Brain Challenge” which at first glance, appears to be decently well done, if not heavily reliant on cliché Photoshop effects for its visual feel.

There will also be plenty of posts discussing mind exercise which do not involve gaming. Our interest is in helping everyone keep their brains in top condition!

Stay tuned as we get our foundation built and get ready to frame the walls. We’ve got a lot in store!
